I bought this boat as is 2yrs ago from a dealer. It came with a 1986 Suzuki DT75 on it. It ran at the dealership. Apparently the boat was sitting for a while and was in need of some TLC. Anyway to make long story short it was only running on the number 1 cylinder. I ended up rebuilding the carbs. New plugs. Cleaned the fuel tank. Then I had it running on the #2 and 3 cylinders but not the #1. Checked the compression #1 was 115 and #2 and #3 were 125 all holding steady. All cylinders have good spark. I have done everything I could think of so being low on funds and moving I parked the boat and have not touched for another year. Well the other day I got back to it. I took all the carbs off and cleaned and took off the power reeds and cleaned them too. But when I put them back on I put the #2 set on the #1 cylinder and #1 set on the #2 cylinder. Now it does not run on the #2 cylinder. I guess what I'm asking is this common for these reed to go bad or is it rare. Or is there another problem I don't know about that could cause this.

Well at least you now know it is the reed that is bad, this happens, replace the reed, you can buy parts online at brownspoint.com, then you need to adjust your carb perfectly so it is not too rich or to lean, cause that might have been the cause of the bad reed ....
