I am rebuilding my 1986 18ft thompson, and i am looking for sugestions and tips on what to use for the flooring. Also should i get some kind of paint or spray on plastic to cover the inside of the fiber glass hull?

Hey bud, there is a 2 page thread on deck options that has should be on the first page....I would take a spin through that... Really depends on your use (fishing vs pleasure, etc..). A lot of folks hate carpet because it can accelerate rot and so many that like carpet do snap in that can be removed for cleaning/drying. Vinyl decks also get some love on here. Guys that do a ton of fishing usually just a non skid finish like durabek that they can just spray out.

Hope this helps

Did you ever complete the floor?

So an update. Sorry in the delay. I ended up going a cheap possibly temparary route. I used out door treated ply wood. And rubberized roof coat then the normal out door carpet. It was a learning expierence but have not had any problems with it and I am very happy with how it turned out.

That sounds like a good example of a bad example on how to repair a boat deck.

Ok jigngrub mat think its a bad repair which may be true but after much research that is how decided to do it. The flood has not peeked or warped and is very sound. Plus I new that when I started building me seats a year or two later that I would have to redo the floor so that everything would match. On this time I will fiberglass it. But I am sorry gallen I do not have a template wish I did it would have been so much easier.
