Once you pull the flywheel, replacement is a breeze. But getting that flywheel off can be troublesome.

Just pay the shop to do the repair so it is done quickly.

Plenty of fishing time left, 8-10 weeks yet.

Will be in Mercer for a week in October, and Green Bay for 3 days in November.

Hi there, I'm guessing you meant to say 690 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)? If so, than yes 690 CCA should be good enough for your engine model as the minimum needs to be 450 CCA or 525 Marine Cranking Amps according to this marine battery chart in the following link, MARINE OUTBOARD MOTOR APPLICATION GUIDE

I'm going to move this topic over to your other topic so it's all together that way the more informed outboard tech's that are helping you are aware of your battery size, etc.. Plus you titled the two topics the same.;)

Good luck to you.:)

Battery size will not effect trigger operation. If the wiring is not decayed that mean the coil failed in trigger and if that's the case the grounds on ignition plate/coils need to be checked....

The mechanic told me he checked all the stator and trigger wiring it was good just the trigger was bad. Im getting a new battery today geez if I had a puller I would have saved 300.00 I read that the coil "ignition" can break or crack.

Disconnect the yellow wires to the rectifier and insulate them. That will remove them from the list of issues. If spark returns (probably not), you have found the problem.

Thanks chris im not sure this guy knows what hes doing! Hes already got 2 plus hrs in this thing! Woulnt a good mechanic figured this out by now? Im just going to pay them for what hes done and get my boat the hell out of there! I originally told them to diagnose the no spark issue and that was it!

Gee, I would think a good mechanic would find your issue pretty easily. You only have trigger, stator, 2 switchboxes and wiring to check. The issues are pretty well knows, and those ADI ignitions have been in use since the mid 1970s.
