1987 & 1989 Force 85hp

Are most of the parts for a 1987 &1989 Force 85 hp interchangeable?

yes they should be almost the same - i think the color of the electronics is different but that is mostly it. The lower unit's might be different gear ratio and exhaust style but that is a slight difference but will still interchange.

Most parts are interchangeable.
The early models used a one piece drive shaft.20 or 25in.
The later and L-drive used a drive shaft and coupler.
I believe you can use the later model on an earlier.
The OEM packs and coils were blue.
Aftermarket packs were black.
They can be used together.
