Hi just got this little motor and just cleaned the carb and now it purrs like a kitten. The motor has no tell tale that I can see. I ran it at idle in gear for 30 minutes in the barrel and it was just barely warm to the touch, so I know it's getting cooled. Is the reason it has no tell tale, because it is set up for a saddle tank? Just curious never messed with these little Canadian wonders before.

Most small horsepower motors have what is called a "volume" impeller (long, soft, vanes) as opposed to most larger horsepower motors that use a "pressure" impeller (short, stiff vanes). You will see a light "spray" of water coming out of the exhaust housing which is your indicator that the impeller is working. Yours is obviously working as you ran it for 30 minutes without cooking it. You're absolutely correct, you do have a sweet motor there!

Thanks, Oldcatamount, after looking at the parts manual, I see it's a large diameter 3 vain impeller. I'm looking forward to trolling my 10' livingston with it........Robert
