I am looking to power a project I am finishing up and this motor came into my sights. What should I be concerned about (if anything) with the brand or model?

I have only ever owned evinrude/johnson or merc small engines 25hp and less?

thanks

I have an 87 DT 150 SS. When I got it, mine appeared to be rebuilt from what I could tell and my mechanic thinks so too. We just don't know when. It runs strong. Other than the age and some parts not being available its a good motor. So far I have had no real major problems. Carbs needed cleaning, impeller replaced, low oil warning module not working(disconnected, now motor runs fine without it) If it looks clean, runs good, has good compression, I'd say go for it if the price is what you like.

I paid $595 for my 150, but I stole it. Motor of hp like mine were running $3200 - $3600. I got mine from Ebay auction. So as I said if you have seen it run, seen compression numbers to support that its in good shape, $1500 probably isn't to far out of line, especially if its a clean looking motor and has the controls with it.
