I took this years first boating trip and ened up getting towed back in. The day before I took it out i had to replace the battery...it had sat for two years. I put fresh gas in the tanks after putting the old gas in gas cans. I also replaced the plugs and gaped them to .35. It started up like normal a little smoke and ran it at idel for 10 minutes in my driveway. Took it out in the bay and when i ran it at full throttle it would bog down and die after about 45 seconds or so of running it full speed. it did this twice untill i couldnt get it started again. Im thinking its the fuel pump or the priming bulb. After I got back I changed my lower unit oil, half of it looked like baileys cream, could this affect anything? Thanks

Re: 1987 70hp VRO

You have water leaking into the LU ... could be any of the seals (vent/drain plugs, prop shaft, drive shaft, shift rod). Find the leak by pressure/vacuum testing with the LU under water.

Now, that has nothing to do with the running problem. It the motor overheating? Or could be a fuel or ignition problem. Someone needs to do some careful and logical trouble shooting. A shop manual would be very helpful if your the one.
