The cowling on my old Merc has looked real beat ever since I got it. But I always knew I was going to repower so I dident do anything about it. I have since repowered the whaler and I'm now useing the 1987 8hp Merc on my other boat. A classic 1940's wooden job. I'd the motor to look as good as the boat does.

Where can I find a new cowling? How much do they cost?

If they cost big bucks I may repaint the one I have a get a new sticker, but a new one would be better.

Thanks for your help,
Ryan :)

I'll look on ebay, For 225 bucks I'd live with the one I have, the motor is hardley worth that much.

Ryan...

If you decide to refinish may I suggest using a local sign shop to have the decals reproduced rather than purchasing from Mercury.

Reproductions are far less expensive then factory and you can customize the design if you prefer.

Just a thought...
