1987 9.9 hp force

I just bought a 1987 Force 9.9 h.p. I am wondering if I have to look at anything to make sure the thing is going to get me back to shore. Do they have inherant problems? If so what? What is the best oil to run and at what ratio? E.T. C.<br /><br />I have heard a lot of bad things, about these motors, but it came with the boat. I am not into outboards and want to get a clue. <br /><br />Please Help!<br /><br />Thanks for any and all help you can give me.
