I have a 90 hp evinrude that runs great except for one thing. At high speeds the boat bogs down. It idles and goes slow excellent. But when I speed up to plane out the boat it runs for a couple of minutes and shuts down. Everytime after this the primer bulb is flat. I have done many things to troubleshoot because thats what seems to be the only thing to do. So far I have installed new tubing and a primer bulb from gas tank to the motor. I have also replaced the fuel filter located in the motor. Also, thinking it was a venting problem, I removed the gas tank while running but this did not cause considerable help. Finally, I have added a gas solvent to the water made by Quicksilver to remove water in the tank. I need some more help on what to do next. Any help would be great. Should i change o-rings at the connectors or do I need to look at the carbs or could it be the pump. Thanks.

There's a check valve where the hose attaches to the gas tank. Clean/Replace it.

Hi!

I'm pretty sure that the problem is fuel restriction before the primer bulb. At higher speeds there is not enough fuel for the engine.

Thus the tank get air? Try with another tank!

Good Luck!

Regards,
Robbi

Re: 1987 90 hp bogging down

Thanks for the advice guys. From the primer bulb the hose apears to go to a brass fitting and then this fitting is screwed in to an aluminum elbow and then finally this is screwed to a long aluminum pipe that extends to the bottom of the tank.(the tank is built in). So is the check valve the bass looking fittin(this is what i bought new) so it probably isn't it. Any help for finding the check valve would be great. Thanks for the help so far.
John
