Hi I've got a 1987 alpha one gen 1 Mercruiser Outdrive that I just change the oil on and now I've got oil leaking out of the starboard side towards the front a small hole on the lower unit I had put in a water pump kit just before this.

The oil can leak from the water pumps base or the shift shaft or the upper unit seals to leak from the drain hole.
Remove it , split it and inspect your work.

I had issues with the quad "o-ring" between the upper and lower units, which caused oil to leak from there. Maybe it shifted when the upper/lower were put back together?

Sounds more like you missed the quad seal, between the 2 housings. Right next to the water pump, starboard side.

So I checked this morning the oil isn't leaking from the whole anymore and I want to save me at least maybe at least out 2 ounces does this indicate a specific source of the leak?

I did get that seal put in on the starboard side between the two housings.
