Hello,
Thank you for allowing me to join the group.
I just bought a fixer-upper. Hope I didn't waste my money. Of course-it's a boat.
The guy said he bought it to fix up and ran out of energy (and smarts). He replaced the motor,
didn't put the starter in right, killed the starter and the flywheel. Shouldn't be a major fix, but he didn't
winterize it last year.
It's a gamble on whether or not he killed the engine he literally just installed. It had a full tank of gas in
it (and still does). I'm taking it to a repair shop today for assessment.
Any bets on whether the engine is cracked?
Also if anyone has any leads on buy parts, etc. for this boat I would appreciate it.
I'm having a hard time finding anything.
Lorrie

as for a 32 year old boat, the motor is the least of your concerns. I would be more concerned on a rotten hull

however back to your motor. you didnt say if it was an inboard, outboard, I/O or anythong.

if it is an inboard or I/O and if it wasnt winterized and you live anywhere north of south texas or south florida with this past winter, most likely you have a busted motor. even people in Louisiana and north Florida had broken blocks this past winter.
