I'm trying to determine if the cdi unit is at fault before forking out for a new one. The secondary ignition coil is contained within the cdi unit on this motor. The few testing procedures outlined in the repair manual all seem to check out with the exception of the secondary coil resistance. The book says it should be 2000-3000 ohms. Mine reads 2100 which is on the very bottom of the acceptable range. Would this be enough to cause no spark? The primary resistance is 290 ohms which is well within the 240-306 ohm range. All the continuity tests shown on the the flow chart seem to be fine.
It has been a great motor up 'till now. Ran perfect one day and the next day it started and idled fine but bogged out completely under acceleration. I first thought dirty carb so I pulled it and cleaned it. Same symptoms at first but now it has deteriorated to where there is no spark and won't start at all. The price of a new cdi
makes me want to be darn sure that's the problem. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Dave P.
