Was out the other day and noticed when i went to take off that the motor was acting a little dfferent. If i woul'd hammer down on the throttle it would kinda surge in and out.also if i have it at half throttle or a little more it would act funny.
Yesterday when i was out and it would act up i had my friend pump the bulb with nothing changing and the bulb would stay hard like it's supposed to,so i tried hittng the choke and bam,she took off just like it should.
I'm assuming it is somthing with the carbs or fuel system?I had a prob with the motor bogging a little while back and replaced the fuel filter&checked the carbs. It ended up being a bad power pack.replaced both power packs and motor ran like a champ for 2 or 3 tanks of gas and now it's acting up.

Any sugestions on where to start?

Re: 1987 Erude 88 spl

you have 3 sets, total 6 jets in each carb. sounds like the intermediates are clogging. hitting the primer (choke), shows a fuel delivery problem.

Thanks Tdaddy, thats what i was thinking but wanted to get a second opinion first. The fuel filter is clean as a whistle far as i can tell.
I'll take carbs off do a thorough cleaning and see what happens.

Re: 1987 Erude 88 spl

Took carbs off yesterday morn and had what appeared to be a small piece of locktite clogging 1 of the big jets in bottom of float bowl.went ahead and cleaned all jets on both carbs with copper wire and carb cleaner.also cleaned all of the threads on carbs and screws so this hopefully don't happen again.

Hopefully someone else can find this info usefull.
