1987 Evinrude 110 Ignition Problem?

The last time I used my boat the engine started to run rough (intermittent no-ignition) while operating at about 1,500 rpm. I took the boat onto a plane and it continued to run rough for about 1 minute then stopped dead and would not restart. I used the auxiliary engine to get back to the dock. Return trip was about 1/2 hour. I tried restarting at the dock and it fired up right away.<br /><br />It is not the kill switch. It is unlikely a power pack since the engine has 2 power packs (1 per cylinder bank). Any ideas what it likely is and how to check for it when it happens again?

Could be the stator but you need to do some testing. Check this out.OMC
