Hi i have a 87 force 125 outboard and i cant find the problem. when i put it in forward and hit the throttle the motor will jumo and skip like it is jumping in and out of gear or jumping a tooth on a gear. it will idle fine and run good at low rpm but when the throttle is pushed down and there is a load on the motor it starts to jump, shaking the whole boat. i replaced cdi modules, coils, and flywheel, pretty much ruled out miss firing. timing is back it order too. last night i took the prop off to check the teeth on the prop and the shaft for the prop. both were fine and showed no sign of and slippage or jumping. so i out back on and put the boat in the water but left it on the trailer. put it in gear and the same problem, so i put it in full reverse and no signs of anything wrong no jumping or anything. ive done research and the only thing i found was maybe the clutch dogs, is there a way to test these, any help would be greatly apearciated !!
thanks alot!!

The clutch dogs could be worn out already or you may be lucky the shift linkage could just be misadjusted. Since the only way to find out if the dogs are worn out is to disassemble the gear box, you can first try biasing the shift linkage forward. You can do this with an adjustment that is located just below the bottom carbs. Or you can follow the teleflex where it connects to the linkage going to the motor leg. Hopefully, that's all that is needed. If the problem persists, then it is time to open and inspect the gear box.

Turns out it was the clutch dog! all put back together but the shift pin seems to be stripped and wont tighten up, wondering if I can just put it in there and maybe use some silicone to seal it or something that would hold up under pressure in the water. Hopefully I don't have to disassemble again just to drill new threads.
