Hey just wondering I have a chance to buy a 1987 johnson 150 motor and the guy said all compression is good but it woun't go over 2000 rpms is it a fixer or a scrapper?

Depends on what's wrong with it and how much you want to put into it.

He said compression on one cyilinder was 5 lower than normal. but before that he bought all new eletronic parts for it coils,ign packs ect ect+ has old stuff.he got a deal on a 200 johnson and doesn't want to see this sit

It could be something relatively cheap and simple or complex and expensive. If I may ask, how much is he asking.

A variance of 5 lbs is not a problem. I wouldn't take his word for it. Check it for yourself. It may not have spark on all 6 cyls.

If the lower unit is good, it's worth $200 by itself.
