Thanks for the help now having a new prob<br />I overhallled the carbs on my 1987 110 hp johnson soaked it over night new carb kit .<br />Now it starts fine get it up to plane then dies. cant fig it out.

you still may have some gunk in the carb did you use compressed air on the carb to blow out all passage ways

Yes I did blew all the holes but come to think of it I did not adjust the float. do you think that might be the probl.

Switch to a known good portable tank and hose. See how it acts.

Did that it still did the same thing one other thing is that when I got this motor the VRO was removed except for the fuel pump could that be a problem

You're losing fuel, or spark.<br /><br />What happens after it dies? Does it immediately restart?

Yes I have a strong spark on all plugs

When it starts to die pump the primer bulb and see if it picks up. If it does check your fuel pump. Float misadjusted could cause this but I would check the others first.

Thanks I will do that. is the vro fuel pump hard to clean or do I have to replace it?

Thanks guys for your help it turned out it was the fule float. I got one more ? when on plane I get a 3' roster tail that gose into my splash well. what could be the prob

Is the cavitation plate above or below the bottom of the hull and by how much?

Do you have a fishfinder transducer mounted on the transom, or even your speedo pickup could cause the roostertail.

For starters you need to raise the engine so that the cavitation plate is even with the bottom of the hull. When you get that done take it for a run and post back your rpms at WOT and let us know what prop you are running. You may need to raise it some more.<br /><br />Also tell us a bit about your boat and performance.
