1987 Johnson 90 hp controls

I just bought a boat with this motor .Can anyone tell me where I can get info on my remote control? On the control over the cables and under the key is a plastic thumb screw. It spins freely both directions. I do not know what this is for. Can anyone fill me in? Thanks you for the help.

I think you are talking about the tension knob

Yep, that knob when turned clockwise will increase tension on the throttle handle to keep it from creeping back toward idle when running....
