This motor has been stored outside for 4+ years. With fresh gas the motor started initially and ran on one cylinder. We checked comp. and spark and all was good. We removed, cleaned, set the floats in carbs and reinstalled. We found a tremendous amount of crap in the high speed jet in the lower carb so we were confident that she would come to life. Still ran pourly and now made a lot of white smoke and eventualy fouled the plugs w/fuel. We put rebuild kits in the carbs and reinstalled. No change. I should say the VRO pump was not pumping and was found to have a broken diaphram, we installed a rebuild kit but have not reinstalled the pump. We have been running premix and I have been acting as the fuel pump via the primer bulb. When I got tired of pumping at just let it run the motor will perk up and run right for an instant before she ran out of gas.
I just want to go on a boat ride.

Welcome to iboats.

So have you reinstalled the new pump yet?

I would also install a new impeller, as the one sitting for 4 years is definately shot and will need to be replaced.

No I am still the fuel pump. I did replace the impeller. The tell tale orifice was clogged with a substance somewhere between mud and bug carcase.
