Hi folks. I've got what I THINK is a throttle problem. My throttle cable is adjusted correctly, because when we are running the boat full throttle, the arm which the cable connects to is pushed all the way until the little hammer touches down fully. The problem is that the engine is only humming to about half of it's rpms, and we're going about 20 mph...in a 16 foot aluminum boat, with a 60 hp Merc! This motor ought to be making this boat fly. The fuel filter is new, plugs are new, fuel line is not kinked. It runs excellent otherwise, just not getting the rpms at all, and suspecting throttle. What can I check?

joe, you have to have 3 thing. proper compression, spark, fuel/oil/air delivery.. 1st check compression, should be with in 10% of each other. if this is ok, check spark on each plug. if you have or can borrow a induction timing light take the boat out and clip it on each plug wire, this way you can test it under load..if this is all good it could be crud in the carbs, or the carbs and the timing are out of sinc. there are many others here who have more experience than me. good luck.
