1987 mercruiser problems

i have a 87 3.0l mercruiser engine that knocks when running. the noise seems to be coming from lifters. was told its normal but there is another noise from between engine and lower unit. my father inlaw said it might be u-joints. is this noise normal because the boat is being ran out of water? i also have no oil pressure unless revd up. could this be a gummed up sensor? and fuel doesnt work either (when key is shut off engine keeps running) could that be the problem.

i think as far as the key goes its a bad key. solenoid is shot so a push button is wired to both sides of solenoid. i know the knock is not coming from engine because i listened to it wiht a stethescope and only hear minor lifter noise i think there is another problem
