Ok, it's getting better. This motor had, or has multiple problems it seems. But, I am hanging in there. I will get this thing running right! Thanks for all or your help so far, it has been very valuable in my learning experience on this motor. Just decided to start a new post, since a lot has been remedied. Here is what has been done, seen so far. Screw was broken off on throttle actuator, shade tree repaired. I took it off and fixed it right. Changed the water pump, rebuilt the carbs and fuel pump. Replaced the fuel lines. Self inflicted problem started. Somehow when I replaced the fuel lines, I routed the main fuel line from the fitting across the shift linkage to the pump. When I would put it in gear as and throttle it, it would pinch off the fuel line. It would try to get on plane, then gradually starve for fuel and die. Fixed that issue. Lesson learned. Compression is even and strong across all cylinders. All were within 5psi of 120. Spark jumps a 7/16" gap all 4 cylinders. All link and sync is correct. Spark plugs are good. Cleaned out the exhaust, that did help it seemed. Prop is good. Boat still will not get on plane! On the lake last night, I had my wife run the boat to full throttle, while I messed with the max spark advance. I did not have my timing light with me. But, I adjusted it quit a few turns in both directions, no change? I would think it should have some significant effect on the performance? Any ideas? I will take a timing light with me next time. When I checked link and sync in my shop, it was at cranking RPMs, by the way. Thank for any advice guys.. I do like these little boats this is my second one, and I am picking up my third today from a friend. It's a project too. Lol
