Well I got a new boat and sold the bayliner last year. Its true, buying is the best feeling, but selling it was too.lol
I got a galaxie 87 with a omc 4.3
Couldn't get fuel,so took off the fuel pump, and it was clogged with red gue.

It hasn't been started in 4 years, but was winterized before hand.
The guy said it might be diesel fuel of some type as i believe winterizing it with the stuff he had,was the reason he told me that.So not sure.
But Im guessing after 4 years it has settled into the fuel pump.
Cleaned it,and bought a new fuel filter.

My question is when I put the fuel pump back on,there is the rod hanging out.
Do I just put it on normally and the rod will be fine?
Rod is sliding out,and not sure if their is a catch on it,so just leaving it where it is.

But I should just be able to push the fuel pump up against the rod,and all is well correct?

Any help would be appreciated.
im kinda new at these type of motors as the bayliner was a force 85.

Thanks,
Scotty

Just simply bolting it on should be ok. The pump rod is self aligning. Be sure to prep surfaces for the gasket too!

Ayuh,... That rod is the fuel pump pushrod, it rides on the cam, 'n actuates the fuel pump....

Whatever ya do, DON'T Bend it....

On some blocks, there's a blind tapped hole, from the front of the block, that a bolt can be turned into, Lightly, to hold the rod Up, while ya mount the fuel pump...
