Big block, awful Alpha outdrive the boat came with a 21p Clever prop that was bent at the tips improperly. I will be buying a new prop and wanted to know if anyone has experience with a 22p or possibly 23p for higher top end speed or wot? Also what diameter? I will absorb all the info givin. Im currently running 56-56mph per gps @ (its been a year and I think) 4500rpm (maybe 4000) Thanks

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Rpms at Wot is a very critical piece of info when choosin' props,.....

If yer turnin' 4500 rpms, I'd suggest ya stick with a 21" prop,.....
If yer runnin' 4000 rpms at Wot, I'd drop to a 19", as yer luggin' the motor, which leads to detonation, 'n holes in pistons,.....

Goin' to a taller prop, is not what ya need, with the info available,....

Ayuh Mate and thanx for the welcome and reply. I am supplying a photo for review. I have the boat on the trailer for some spring cleaning. I did run the boat last weekend and was wot @ 4500rpm and 58 mph with just me and a 1/8 tank of gas. That's GPS MPH by cell phone not the boat gauge. I have read a few other of your responses and see you have knowledge on the subject where I dont. I have seen other Pachangas running 63-65 mph off stock big blocks. This prop needs straightened out for a replacement if needed.
What prop pitch and diameter would you prefer to run 5-6 mph faster keeping the RPM around 45-4600? Any ideas? Stainless prop preferred. Thanks again

Ayuh,.... It'll take from a couple hundred to a several hundred more horsepower to do that,....

Just the fact that yer motor is held to 4500 rpms, says that's it's horsepower limit,....
'n with the Alpha drive, yer motor is already at the limit of horsepower the drive can take,....

Ya might try findin' other owners of boats like yer's, 'n see what they're runnin' for horsepower, 'n drives,...

Ya might try a 19" pitch to see if increasin' the rpms can increase yer speeds,....

Ya might try a cleaver style, 'n see if it'll free up the hull better than the chopper style ya got,....

A Clean bottom, 'n lightenin' the load will probably give ya the most new speed,...
Straightenin' or "Blue-printing" the bottom could also be worth lookin' at,...

Sorry I ain't more help, but yer expectations seem abit high,.....

Using a 1.47 gear ratio adding 1" for being cupped calculation says about 9% slip.
If we use a 21" prop slip is an unlikely 5% slip.
I do think it would be cost effective to get the prop repaired/tuned,be sure the bottom is clean and smooth.
Be sure the motor is carefully tuned. Then some lightly loaded test runs. get us wot rpm and gps speed.

Thanks for the replies men..From the info stated it appears I need to settle in with the fact im not going to gain much more top end. I will get the prop that's on the boat repaired and put a new prop on, guessing another 21P. Its been tough gathering info on prop selecting, it seems to be a trial and error situation. The big block runs great I don't see any reason to change much on it yet. This boat would really shine with a new Bravo III and a 383 Stroker combo :)
