1987 searay Deville II mercuriser 170hp 3.7 trim switch problems

On my shifter i have the option for bow down or up. The bow down works. But the bow up does not. But the trailer switch up does. any ideas on what will cause this

Open trim limit switch circuit.

so replace the switch
