If memory serves, I think it was a 23P Stainless.

As boats got lighter later in the years, it was changed to a 25P.

The real way to prop a boat is to take it to a dealer that is on or close to the water. And put a test prop on it and test run it. If you hit max engine rpm with throttle to spare, then you need a taller prop (more pitch). Hole shot, usually will need a lesser pitch prop or use a 4 bladed prop. 3 Bladed gives best top end.

It would depend on the drive unit you have.

Again, you really need to take it to a dealer for assistance with this issue. Your altitude and the way you load out your boat will make a big difference.

Aluminum vs Stainless, the jury is still out on that. Theoretically, they should be so close as it would be non-issue, provided both props had the same size and shape to the cups.

And personally, I think that may be the reason why stainless has generally out-performed aluminum. To increase cup strength, they put more curve in the cups (and thicker) on aluminum. Where-as stainless, had a more "slip through" profile that allowed more efficiency. Mostly on top end and cruise. A prop that has best efficiency for top end usually has the worst for hole shot and vis-versa.
