The dip stick on this outdrive is so tight I have been unable to budge it with a large screwdriver. I dont want to damage the flat blade screwdriver slot by being stupid. any ideas on how to loosen this up. This is a new unit for me I always used outboards I do have the seloc manual but it is not much help with this problem. also is it true you use 10-40 motor oil in this unit.
thanks

use a hand impact driver or a good tapered pin punch with a flat nose.
place the nose on the edge and smack it with a hammer.
its a standard lefty loosy fastner.

I've had the same type of problem. what i did was modified my screwdriver by grinding the tip down so that it made the tip fatter. you can go as far as to where you can make it a perfect fit.

use the same type oil as your engine. i believe mine (aq125 with 270 outdrive) calls for 10w 40 or 30. but i use just straight 30 weight, or an HD30 in engine and outdrive. i believe that would be best..
