1987 Yamaha 200 Hp Trim Unit Removal

[Lightening Rod]

I have removed all bolts and wires, have motor trimmed up but cannot get the unit out. Looking at the unit, it appears about 1/2" wider than either the top or bottom.<br /><br />Do I have to remove one of the engine mount brackets to get the unit out???

yes you have to loosen nut at steering tube and spread bracket also starboard mount bolts unit will slide out

Do not try this unless the engine is either off the boat or securely held by an a frame or hoist.
