Hello All, I'm new to this forum. I just bought a 1983, 15 foot , Tiderunner boat with a Yamaha, 70 hp, 2 stroke outboard. The engine runs excellant and has 380 hours on it. My first question is: should I remove the oil injection system and mix my own gas? Second: how many hours can I expect to get from this engine? Thanks in advance, Great site!

welcome to iboats .... It all depends on how well you maintain the motor ..... I have an old engine that still runs perfectly that has about 2000hrs on it ... believe it ...... if you are 100% sure the oil injection isn't working properly you can disconnect it otherwise leave it as is .....

Do you have a model 70ETLH? I have the same model. It has a very reliable oil injection system. Are the 3 oil injection hoses nearest the engine and carburetor still transparent? You should be able to see the oil in the transparent lines. Most important thing is to use the correct TCW oil. I always use the Yamalube.
