I still can't fix my problem of not getting over 2000rpm's two switch box changes haven't fixed it. Some say it can't be the trigger or the stator that is the problem some say it can be. The ignition coils and wires all seem to test fine. I am wondering if the trigger generates enough current to be the problem?

Should be the stator generating the current...

Dont know about your motor, but some stators have a low speed coils and high speed coils. The low speed coils can work and the engine works fine at low RPM, but then the high speed coils are shot and it wont run at high rpms.

Ken

Great, my stator does in fact have high and low speed windings. I have ordered a replacement stator. Any thoughts on whether the switch boxes would have been burnt out by this problem and I will need yet another one, or is it possible the old switch box will be fine once the new stator is put in?

It's quite possible you have changed out good swichboxes, there is a test with an Ohm meter to test the windings on the stator on those models. Sometimes they test within the range specified and still refuse to operate correctly, though. If you can rule out any fuel/carb issues, that stator could very well be the culprit.
