Have owned the boat and motor since 1988. Always had this problem. Starts and runs fine from cold and runs well wot down to idle. Once I turn off and could be as little as 5 minutes, I start the routune of priming and raising the choke. When it does finally start, out comes all the white smoke. I've read previous posts dated back over a few years but none have pinpointed the problem. Anybody have a clue.

I just had the carbs rebuilt and the problem still exists

Once you have the engine up to temp., you should not need to prime , or choke it again. Sounds like you are simply flooding the engine every time you start it when warm

rip59,

Ditto R-J. You should NOT need to reprime or lift the warm up lever after a short stop.

White smoke is indicative of flooding.
