I have a 1988 FORCE 15 horse power outboard motor with very few hours on it. This motor will only run for 10 min. and then quit. I must wait for the motor to cool down before it will start. I have replaced the impeller and put a new head gasket on, and they have checked out the coil. The outboard dealer has no other ideas on how to fix it, have you???

The older Force motors were famous for having bad ignition systems, when Mercury started building them one of the first things they did was change the parts under the fly wheel. My guess is bad coils (breaking down when they warm up) Good luck

A little more info. would be helpful.
Got good water flow from tell tale?
Does it run well b4 shutdown?
Does it stop imediately or just slow, then stop and won't restart?
Checked the obvious? vent open on fuel tank?
Is it runing out of fuel due to a stuck float?
Just some ideas to check on and report back so some of these fine wrenches can help...

You gotta check for spark when it quits, or you're just shooting in the dark. Get a cheap spark tester (or atleast an old plug), carry it with you, when it quits, install and check for spark.....then you'll have a direction to head for troubleshooting......
