1988 150 VRO, does it have a fuel alarm?

I have a 1988 150 that the alarm came on last weekend. I thought it was the overheating alarm, but then I had a loss of power. I am not near the boat at this time to get the ##'s but I was reading about alarms on other threads. Did the 88's have alarms for fuel restriction? I thought it was the overheating alarm but if they had fuel restriction alarms that could explain the loss of power.

I am going to check compression and spark this weekend but I wanted to ask about the fuel alarms.

Thanks,

YES, the same as overheat.
J/E Alarms

low oil alarm is a beep every 30 seconds. beep......................beep...................

no oil alarm is a beep every 1/2 second or so.beep, beep, beep

overheat and fuel restriction alarm is a constant beep.beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Thanks for the info!! I am going to look into the fuel system. That sounds more like what I have going on with the loss of power and alarm.

Thanks again,

Although the overhead and fuel restriction alarms sound the same (constant alarm), there are differences, and it sounds to me like it might be an overheat alarm:

Fuel restriction: alarm only comes on at higher RPMs. When you reduce the throttle to lower RPMs the alarm stops.

Overheat: the alarm does not stop when you reduce the RPMs. It only stops when the engine cools off. Also if your engine has "SLOW" circuitry, the RPMs will automatically drop down (not sure of RPM - mid 2000's?). Could this be the loss of power you're talking about?
