I just picked up a 1986 Evinrude 110 to replace my sick 1988 Johnson 110.
The Johnson is in better overall condition (except for low compression in one cylinder) so my plan is to swap the Evinrude powerhead onto the Johnson.
I dont want to end up with a "Frankenmotor" so my plan is to keep the 88 Johnson ignition system and carbs since the 86 components are different.
I'm just looking for confirmation that what I'm planning to do is feasible and that there are no major differences between the 2 motors that will cause me grief.
Thoughts?

Should be a pretty easy swap. The two are almost identical and have the same base mounting configuration. Same driveshaft used for both years, so that should not be a problem either. The ignition systems have different power packs. The 86 uses the old style dual packs. The 88 uses the newer single pack. Usually that meant that it had SLOW and Quickstart, but alas, no. That was only on the 120/140 V4 engines that year.
