Motor will not idle properly unless I keep constantly pushing in on the choke, it also spits fuel thru the top carb from the throttle blades and the small screw in jet on the upper part of the carb. Motor runs great at WOT once I get it to go and passed a bog spot in the throttle. I also tried hooking up a small electric fuel pump to push thru the mechanical pump with the same results. Any suggestions on what else to check?

Look under FAQ at the top of the page, there is a carb cleaning instruction. Also Top Secret Files.

You know that choking a warm engine should flood it immediately and shut it off. The fact that it makes yours run better can only mean one thing. It's not getting enough fuel through the idle circuit.

If the fuel pump fails, the carb bowls run dry. If there's gas in the carb, then you know the pump is not the problem.

Rebuild the carbs, with new carb kits.

The electric pump, if not designed for use on marine engines, might create a fire hazard.
