Today we took our boat out for its maiden voyage to see how the motor would run. It started up just fine and would run at a nice idle and shortly after say about 30 seconds to a minute later the warning buzzer would sound on off on off and so on. So I would turn it off and try again in a few minutes and it would do this each time. The motor seemed to be running fine even when the buzzer was going off. I've been advised that the water pump should be replaced every two years regardless of use. I bought the boat used so I have one on order. Could this be the cause of the warning buzzer? Also, any tips on disconnecting the shift linkage under the carbs? I'm having a difficult time getting the lower unit off.

someone will correct me if Im wrong But I believe the intermittent buzzer has to do with the low oil in the VRO oil tank. continuous buzzer is over heating.

VRO Alarms signals. Low oil = 1/2 second every 20 seconds. No Oil = 1/2 second every 1/2 second. Run some premix 50:1 until you are certain that the VRO pump is pumping oil. Check all hoses from the oil tank for leaks. If it has sat for an extended time the pump may just need to be primed to get oil flow back to the pump. In any case run premix until you sort this out!

I wasn't familiar with the VRO setup but after doing some more reading I can see that it has been disconnected. I have been running some premixed 50:1. Could it be that the alarm wire was never disconnected? Or would it matter if using premix?

Yes check, there will be a cable with a plug end coming from the VRO pump. Unplug that and you should be good to go.
