Today we took our boat out for its maiden voyage to see how the motor would run. It started up just fine and would run at a nice idle and shortly after say about 30 seconds to a minute later the warning buzzer would sound on off on off and so on. So I would turn it off and try again in a few minutes and it would do this each time. The motor seemed to be running fine even when the buzzer was going off. I've been advised that the water pump should be replaced every two years regardless of use. I bought the boat used so I have one on order. Could this be the cause of the warning buzzer? Also, any tips on disconnecting the shift linkage under the carbs? I'm having a difficult time getting the lower unit off.

That warning horn is trying to tell you something is not right and until one of the gurus chimes in to answer your question I would not keep running it; it could be a fuel restriction, a low oil if you still have the VRO hooked up or simply a short in one of the tan wires. But get the answer before any damage is done. Good luck

Did you just buy the boat , launched and roared away ?----------Do you have a manual ?-----The intermittant beep may be a no oil warning from the mixing unit.-----Did the previous owner explain about the VRO ?------- Is the VRO still on there and is it working properly.-----Hopefully no damage was done on this fine motor.
