Hi fellas. It is been a while since my last post but it's also been 50 below zero all winter and I haven't really needed to get to my boat. BUT i'm going to be pulling it out of storage soon and I was hoping somebody could help me out. Before i put the boat away I realized all the wood floors in my boat I getting really week and I'd like to replace them all. Has anyone ever done this or knows anywhere I could find some good information on the easiest way to do this? I was kind of thinking about just taking it out piece by piece and measuring it directly to a new piece of wood cutting it recarpeting it but I don't know if that's really how to do it. Can someone please help me?

It's best to post some pics of her so we can see what you're trying to do. You'll get a lot of good knowledgeable advice that way.

As WoG mentioned, pictures - or even vidoes - are very important so we can see what you see. In generall, there is no "easy" way to properly fix a boat with rotted deck. Also boats - usually - rot from the bottom up and stern to forward. This means that if the deck is gone, most likely the transom and stringers are also shot. Take some core samples of the transom - as low as you can reach - and stringers. Based on the results, you might be getting into a full restoration if you care to resurrect this boat.

Well if pictures is the best way.... I may of posted too early it'll be some time before I get the boat outta storage. I was just trying to get an idea on how difficult it was to do and if there were any tips or tricks. There's just a couple of " soft spots" otherwise pretty stable. I can repost in the spring when I pull up some pieces and see what's going on pics
Thanks guys

Ayuh,.... Generally speakin', the story goes,.... Yer gonna pull up the deckin', thinkin' that's yer only problem,...

Once the deck is out, you'll find the stringers, 'n transom are also rotten,...

As mentioned,... Boat rot from the bottom, up, 'n from the aft, forward,...

The deck is usually the last spot to rot,...

Soft spots on a deck are indicators of rot problems below deck.

This guy thought he just had a small soft spot on his deck to fix:

... and this guy thought his deck was solid when he bought his boat:

You never really know just what you have until you remove the decking.
