I just bought this boat...so lot of it is new to me. Engine is not seized, the battery is holding 12 volts. No visible signs of corrosion or breakage. Oil is fine.

When cranking - nothing happens, after a gentle click. The only things that work are the trim and the bilge pump. Seems it's something electrical. Connections might be bad - somewhere between the control and the engine. But where do I start? Thought I might check in here first. I have the wiring diagram from the manual, and that's my starting point.

Also, I removed the secondary battery to charge it. But I do not see clear connections up to it. Is that a factor at all. Random wires hand underneath console, some connected, some ripped. Start there? What to look...

TIA folks!

clean all your battery cable connections. they have to be shiny enough to eat off of. this includes the block and starter connections as well as the slave solenoid.

you dont say what motor as you only state the boat

also, if you have points, you need to service them.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,.... Electrical connections need to be taken apart to clean the corrosion,.....
The corrosion might be seen, or hidden in the connection,.....
ALL must be Shiny Clean Metal, Clean,.....
I slather 'em with grease to keep 'em that way,....
