1988 classic 50 motor problem

i have a 1988 mercury classic 50 wich i think is a 45 horse motor if im not mistaken well it dies when i out it in gear i have taken to the repair shop and they pulled and cleaned the carbs rebuilt the fuel pump compression is good any one have any idea what the problem could be please help me

I have the same motor if it's the 4 cylinder. Great motor. Did you take it to the repair shop expecting them to make it right but they were unable to do so? What was said?

And some friendly advice.....you'll get more help if you make an effort to use proper punctuation. No one wants to read a paragraph without periods.

no i took it the repair shop hoping they would fix it. and there still working on it just trying to see if any one else has the same proplem or knows waht to do next
