1988 evinrude 8 hp control setup

hey all, im looking to setup throttle and shift controls to my 1988 evinrude 8hp. i was wondering if anyone has done this on here and if the 2 lever simplex control box will work with this outboard. found a few on ebay that have been rebuilt and look to be in good shape. i can steer it but need to leave the wheel to shift and throttle while trolling. thanks for any input

Yeah, you could hook up a simplex box to it. You'll need the adapter kit for remote controls. I don't think the 'kit' is still available but all of the parts are.
search 0173689 and you might find one from another supplier
