My boat has been running perfect the last month thanks to all the help on here but today I went to go out striper fishing and it ran like crap from the first start. Only runs at idle or WOT and then it cuts back and bogs from time to time. When I got back to the dock i pulled the plugs and the bottom cylinder is full of gas. I just put a new float and needle on the bottom carb and its been running perfect. Ran perfect last trip out. Sat for a week and now this. Any suggestions?

Also when I tilt the motor all the way up gas dribbles out of the bottom carb

Re-check the float in the bottom carb. It sounds like it isn't closing the needle valve. Not sure what type of float you have, cork or an air-filled, but a saturated or gas in a float can also cause this.

Check the fuelpump. If the diaphragm is worn, may have cracks or hole the fuel will enter the cylinder wrong way.

The bottom cylinder is #4 and the one above it is #3. Both are fed from the bottom carb. If fuel puddle is only on #4 cylinder (bottom cylinder) then the problem could not be the carb, otherwise both #3 and #4 cylinders should both have fuel puddle. The fuel pump is mounted on the #3 cylinder, if the diaphragm has leaks or hole in it then the fuel puddle should only be limited to #3 cylinder.

Depending on how much fuel you are talking about on #4 cylinder, the cause is probably because it is not firing. If a cylinder is not firing due to electrical problem, while everything else is, obviously fuel oil mix will puddle in that cylinder.

Full???
The fuel settles in the lowest place.
The fuel system has a recirc system that returns unburned fuel to the system.
Not positive but the pump sets on #3 cyl and the vacuum assist runs off #4???
If so then the fuel pump could be pumping fuel into #4??

Something else I noticed this morning... Left the motor down all night. Tipped it up this morning and fuel poured out the lower carburetor. I'm guessing over a pint. How does that happen when it hasn't even ran since I cleaned it out?

Also I went through about 15 gallons of fuel in about an hour yesterday. Usually that lasts me a week if I go out everyday.

No Title

I just pulled the fuel pump apart and the smaller side of the diaphragm is ripped completely across... so much for boating on the 4th this year.

That sucks but on the otherhand it seems to be an easy fix. Another lesson learned. Always have a spare fuel pump diaphragm just like I always have a spare impeller and spark plugs.

So that fixed it. Went better then before. So I'll be ordering 2 new fuel pump kits so I have a spare in the boat. Thanks for all the help again.
