Finally got my Force 125 running like a champ thanks to all the help on here. When I got the boat the trim/tilt motor didn't work and was half disconnected from the base. So it got water in the system. I have ready that the base with one port down and 3 ports facing the transom mount is a prestolite pump. Also read that it's not supposed to have red or transmission fluid in it. I put my new pump motor on it and filled it with the transmission fluid before I had read about it not taking it. It worked well for the last 3 trips to the lake but now it bleeds down fairly quickly. Fast enough that I had to stop 6 times on the 4-5 mile trip to the lake and trim it back up before I finally wrapped it with a ratchet strap to hold it up. Then it worked well on the lake but coming back into the launch the trim worked but when it got to tilt height it stopped working and I pushed the button again and it tripped the breaker. So what fluid should I be using and what's the proper procedure to completely flush it out and refill with the right fluid? Sorry for the book of a post lol

I've been using straight 30 weight non-detergent oil for many years with no problem.

To flush the system, just disconnect one of the lines to the cylinder and turn the pump on and it will pump all the fluid out of the reservoir...hopefully into a container. Reconnect the line and fill the reservoir with 30wt oil. Run the tilt/trim up and down a few times to pump the oil into the tilt/trim cylinders. Repeat this whole procedure until you don't see any more redish colored fluid being pumped out into your container. A word of caution..be very careful when threading the line fittings back into the pump. Very easy to get them cross threaded which basically ruins the pump. That's how I do it, but maybe someone else can chime in with some additional suggestions for flushing.

You need to determine if the problem is the "O" ring seals in Trim cylinder, Tilt cylinder or if it's the seals in the pump itself.

You can disconnect the lines for each cylinder one at a time and plug them with a threaded plug and operate the other cylinder that is still connected to see if it operates and stays up OK.

If the system still bleeds down after the cylinders test OK, then the seals in the pump are probably bad.

Same here , straight 30 weight non-detergent, that's what the factory service says anyway.
I have read here 90% of the time it's the two washers both are the same, in the pump itself.
Briggs and Stratton kit # 3981888, you have to buy the kit to get the washer, you need two kits to get the two washers unless anybody knows how to get the washer only,
Does oil have to leak out the "O" ring seal for it to be the problem, on the trim or tilt cylinder?

I'll ask again,Tom what 2 washers?
How do you fix them??
Explain what the repair is????

No oil doesn't need to leak for it to be bad.
