1988 Force 50 coil

It has been determined that the bottom coil on my 1988 Force 50 Model #507y8c is bad. I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to repair the coil or do I have to buy a new one. Also I have searched for a new one on the internet and have not been able to locate one that fits the 1988 only 1989. Thanks in advance and hop to hear from someone
