Hello.
After some recent issues I discovered some cooling problems. I have a part that is obviously broken. The part is in the outlet hose that connects the motor to the outside motor case and the water ports that are midway up the back of the motor. The part is a plastic disk that is within that hose. There is a spring and a that plastic disk. The plastic disk is melted. I want to replace it but I don't know what it is called. When I looked it up in an engine part directory is was simply labeled accessory, and when I talked to the guy at the local marina he had no idea what I was talking about and was clearly annoyed that I wanted to order a random mystery part.
So does anyone know what I am talking about, or am I crazy?
Also, what does it do? It looks like it just holds water in the motor. Are there any side effects to it not even being there?

Yes. That's the one. I incorrectly stated it as saying it was labeled as accessory instead of labeled as insert. I was wondering what the part actually is and what it actually does.
I have ordered the part now, but I wonder if it will be ok to take the boat out fishing before I get the part since it will take awhile to arrive.

Thanks for listing that. I think I'll be using it sometime soon in the future.
I tested my old one now, and think It's good enough to use again.
So Any suggetions on whether or not I can fish this weekend without the part called "insert" in it's place?
Because I've been planning on going out for the last two weeks or so

I do not know the really purpose of the insert, maybe it is for stabilize the exhaust rubberboot not to be deformed at the coversurface.

I think there is no problem to run the engine for a weekend without the insert. Just keep an eye at the exhaust and water flow from the exhaust outlet back of the cover.

I believe the insert keeps the end of the bellows from collapsing and stopping the exhaust flow.
