1988 Force 85 Tach

Does anyone know the simplest tach to install on 1988 , 85 Force motor? I have not done this before and would appreciate any tips.

They all hook up the same way.Depends on the boat where to mount it.It might have a hole in the dash already.The wiring harness should have a lead already in it.J

First..Thank you for your help, its awesome to get feedback from people with experience! I should have framed my question a little better, I see information on the electrical forum (see below) that concerns me regarding the correct tach, and I was curious if someone recommended a brand that was reliable and user friendly.

The alternator for a 1985 Force 85hp is actually 20 pole. The tach's for a 20 pole alternator are not as common as a 12 pole so look closely before you buy.

I should have added that my Force is a 1998, dont know if that is different tan a 1995 or not.

Yep, you need a tach for a 20-pole alternator. Very few brands are available new. Teleflex has one in their Red International line. Otherwise, try eBay.
