Hello I bought a 1988 Bayliner Capri today with a 90 horse outdrive Force engine. *I put it on the river and had problems with the motor cutting out at around 20 mph. *I changed the sparks plugs, checked the fuel line for a kink and the problem still persists. *The engine starts right up and idles great it just cuts out when you give it throttle. *I think maybe the carbonator needs cleaned or possible the fuel filter but I'm not sure. *The guy I bought it from said he had it out three weeks ago and it ran fine. *I desperately need some assistance so I can get this thing running ASAP for my sons birthday. *Thank you so much for your assistance.*

First do a compression/spark test.Check for water in the fuel.
Then clean the carbs and replace the fuel pump diaphram.
Install a water/fuel seperating filter.Install a small filter between the carbs and the pump.

Jerry thank you for responding I truly appreciate it. My issue turned out to be far less complicated as I though. I turned out the fuel hose from the tank to the outboard was getting air in it through the quick disconnect. I am going to replace the entire fuel line and am hoping the problem is fixed. Thanks again for replying I truly appreciate the help.
