1988 Four Winns Out Drive ???

Hello All Wise and Helpful Boaters ,

I'm looking at my first boat purchase. It's a used Four Winns with a rebuilt Chevy 305. The mechanic who did the overhaul could not answer what type of outdrive the boat has, so I'm trying to find the answer to that all important question, since I've heard the Stringer Outdrive is the devil! He did say it was probably original. So who knows what the original outdrive was in the 1988 Four Winns Horizon 20, 21'

Any advice is appreciated

IF it's OMC, an 88 would be a Cobra drive. If Mercruiser, an Alpha I.
