Ahoy all. I am trying to repair some chips/gouges in the top surface of my transom on my 1988 Hydrostream Valero YT and am in need of finding car matched gel coat. I've seen places advertise what im looking for, just not the right color. It's an off white color that I hope to find in a gel coat finish. Thanks.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... The original gel is faded, or stained or just 30 odd years old,.....

You'll never, ever get a perfect color match,.....

The only way to match gel coat over a year old is to re-spray the whole boat

No way to match 33 year old gel

Well, you can get a lot closer than off the shelf colors though if you are willing to experiment. This guy is actually pretty good. I'm faced with the same thing. I haven't done anything yet, but if you give it a try let me know how it goes.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoURRmkD8MY

Agreed you can probably match the color, however it will not fade at the same rate as the 33 year old gel, and the repairs will stand out within 6 months
